remits.ca is an independent Canadian publication. It is written, edited, and maintained by the remits.ca Editorial Team, a small group of writers and researchers who work collectively on every guide.
The team byline is deliberate. Pages here are researched, drafted, checked against primary sources, and reviewed as a group, so no single person is presented as the authority behind the site. We do not publish invented author profiles, credentials, or biographies.
remits.ca does not operate a money transfer service, does not hold or move customer funds, and does not process payments.
Our mission
People in Canada send billions of dollars abroad every year, and the costs are easy to miss. A transfer fee is visible; an exchange-rate margin is not. Our mission is to explain both in plain language, so readers can compare total costs and ask better questions before they send.
We write for the person sending money to family, not for the industry. That means neutral wording, no hype, no provider rankings, and no promises about outcomes we cannot control.
How we research and cite
Every factual page is built from primary sources. Depending on the topic, those include the Bank of Canada’s published exchange rates, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, FINTRAC, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, and the central banks or regulators of destination countries.
- Facts and figures are linked to the official source that published them.
- We describe how rates, fees, and rules change rather than freezing a number that will age badly.
- We do not cite other commercial sites as authorities, and we do not copy their content.
- Pages carry a last-reviewed date, and we update them when the underlying rules change.
